Accreditation
Accreditation is a process by which an organization or program is evaluated against established standards to ensure that it meets predetermined criteria for quality and effectiveness. For the National Board of Adaptive Recovery Professionals (NBARP), accreditation is a critical component of our commitment to excellence and professionalism in the field of adaptive recovery coaching. Accreditation serves as a seal of approval, indicating that our certification program meets the highest standards of quality and integrity.
Accreditation is important for NBARP for several reasons. First and foremost, it provides assurance to our members and the public that our certification program has been rigorously evaluated and meets established standards of excellence. This helps to build trust and confidence in the certification process and the professionals who hold our certification.
Additionally, accreditation enhances the credibility and recognition of NBARP and its certification program within the life coaching field. Accreditation signifies that our certifications align with best practices in the industry. This can lead to increased opportunities for our certified professionals and greater recognition for their expertise and qualifications.
Furthermore, accreditation is essential for ensuring that NBARP remains at the forefront of the life coaching field and continues to evolve in response to changing needs and standards. By undergoing the accreditation process, NBARP demonstrates its commitment to continuous improvement and excellence in adaptive recovery coaching certification.
In conclusion, accreditation is a cornerstone of NBARP's commitment to excellence and professionalism. It serves as a mark of quality and integrity for our certification program, enhances our credibility and recognition in the field, and demonstrates our ongoing commitment to excellence and continuous improvement.

Live Online Classes
All NBARP-Accredited online learning institutions provide live, online classes in conjunction with video-recorded and text-content learning materials.
Live, online classes are not meant to teach NBARP-accredited program materials, directly - our online curriculum video and workbook-journal lessons accomplish this (see "Online Curriculum" section, below). Rather, live online classes provide a safe space to process whatever emotions, challenges, insights and revelations are coming up for each student, and also to allow enrolled students to practice telling portions of their own story, which benefits them greatly, both personally and in preparation for independent coaching practice.
Live, online classes also serve as a forum to learn even more skills and perspectives that may not contained in NBARP-accredited curriculum videos and workbook-journal lessons (see "Online Curriculum" section, below). We recognize our online programs to be a "springboard" for lifetime learning! For example, one of our professional online facilitators recently shared a video during class time about play therapy, which is not covered or focused on in the NBARP-accredited curriculum but it is hugely important! Play is actually one of the ways that children (and all young mammals) practice their survival skills, and it's also incredibly healing, but many of us didn't get a chance to do it as children - so we can fill in that lost development now!
All of our live, online classes are facilitated by Masters-level counseling professionals who are dedicated to helping your to heal and grow, and they are equipped to introduce you to a comprehensive range of skills and perspectives.
- It is recommended that enrolled student attend at least one hour of live online class time per week; however, most enrolled students opt to attend more than one hour because they enjoy the dynamic class discussions.
- Enrolled student is solely and fully responsible for their respective attendance of or absence from ARCS Classes.

Grading
Workbook-journal assignments answers are largely subjective (not rigidly “right or wrong”), as they are designed to promote self-awareness and exploration of various concepts and modalities. However, grades of “approved” or “needs updates” (meaning that the lesson content is incomplete and must be revised and resubmitted) are given, based upon the following criteria:
Each student must access, complete and submit all assignments within successive order, and receive a grade of “approved” before they are given access to the next assignment module.

Coursework Pacing
All NBARP-accredited online schools are self-paced, so long as they abide by our board’s mandated coursework access limits, designed to ensure each student’s thorough comprehension of curriculum concepts and resultant preparedness for practice: student may access up to but no more than one course, per week (7 days).
NBARP-accredited programs do not require rigid due dates, timelines or deadlines for workbook-journal assignment submission, as found in conventional schools. In fact, many students come into our program and take a while to get to their coursework because this certification program is not something that you study - it's something that you LIVE.
There is no rigid timeline on emotional healing. Each student will progress through the program at their own pace and, as they do, their life will transform. The benefits of our program will positively impact your self-esteem, your empowerment level and your relationships for the rest of your life. We greatly encourage you to let go of any timeline construct that you might associate with traditional school and honor the natural pace of your healing journey.

CARC Certification Maintenance Requirements
Continuing Education
We ascribe to the philosophy that “every good coach has a coach”, meaning that remaining in the continual process of personal development is essential for competent professional practice.
For this reason, we provide in-house opportunities for ongoing self-care to all of our graduates. Furthermore and as a matter of public safety and trust to maintain emotional fitness for intensive coaching, we require that all of independently practicing CARCs acquire and maintain weekly ongoing individual or group sessions with a Masters or PhD-level therapist. Independently operating CARCs can avail themselves of privately practicing therapists to fulfill this requirement, or they can contact our office for low-cost options.
This is the only continuing education requirement to maintain active CARC coaching certification status.
Code of Ethics
We require that all CARCs adhere to our Code of Ethics, which covers the highest level of confidentiality standards within the coaching and counseling disciplines, as well as guidelines for professional conduct.
Professional Liability Insurance
We require that independently practicing CARCs acquire and maintain comprehensive professional liability insurance to cover all of their coaching activities, which serves as vital protection for both client and coach.
